Rutledge Engineering

Royal Prince Alfred Hospital

August 2003 – January 2004

Rutledge Engineering was awarded the tender to detail the design and construct the audiovisual systems at the Kerry Packer Education Centre and Resident Medical Officer’s conference room at RPAH. The KPEC Auditorium (pictured left) is a high level presentation and conference facility, comparable to any in the medical arena worldwide.

The client’s usage requirements and expectations demanded a high level of technical performance and sophistication due to the medical industry’s requirements for accurate image and audio reproduction. Rutledge successfully surpassed the requirements of the client in producing a system of broadcast audio and video quality, while utilising commercial audiovisual products and methods.

The control system within the Auditorium was designed with dual control facilities to allow for two modes of operation: stand-alone mode (the lecturer controls everything) and operator-assisted mode (the dedicated AV technician/s control the show from the bio-box at the rear of the room).  The project incorporated some of the latest routing and conferencing technologies being utilised around the world today.
