Sydney Olympic Park Authority
May 2002 – October 2002
Rutledge Engineering was engaged to deliver multimedia hardware installation for the Games Memories Program multimedia exhibit located in the forecourt of Stadium Australia, Homebush Bay.
The purpose of the exhibit is to recognise the 74,000 volunteers who assisted with the Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Sydney in 2000. The outdoor installation consisted of various multimedia displays including the Games Memories Forest and a Multimedia Satellite Pod. The ‘Forest’ (pictured left) is made up of poles that house LCD monitors from which the public are able to view and listen to special moments from the games. The central control system for the Forest is located within the Pod, which includes an AMX control system and touch panel. From this touch panel, the Forest system can be manually controlled or scheduled on a pole-by-pole basis.
The Multimedia Satellite Pod also houses 12 plasma monitors that have been synchronised together to enable a custom built show, played across all plasmas. Rutledge also completed the audiovisual installation within the SOPA Visitors’ Centre.
