The Melbourne Convention Centre is internally linked to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in the city’s South Wharf precinct.

Put together, the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is the largest exhibition centre in the southern hemisphere.

This major complex showcases pioneering technology to suit the world class architectural design, and the world class events that are held here.

The MCEC development project consisted of audio visual systems across the following:

  • The Plenary (1, 2 and 3)
  • Grand banquet room
  • 32 x meeting rooms
  • Foyer and reception spaces
  • Other associated control and server rooms

The plenary is the centrepiece of the facility. It can be configured into three separate spaces or as one large theatre that can accommodate more than 5,000 seats.

Six LED Walls are mounted within the foyer and plenary. The foyer system expands on the signage with the addition of dual rear projection LCD screens above the reception counter, and four LED walls located around the main foyer.

The most sophisticated but simple-to-use audio visual and ICT available is inbuilt into every meeting room of the convention centre.

Rutledge AV is proud to be associated with MCEC. This project allowed us to pioneer new standards for world class audio visual convention centre systems.

This project was recognised by a commendation at the 2009 National NECA Awards, winning the NECA State Excellence Award, and also the inaugural AV Industry Award (AVIA) that year.
